These are 3 major parts containing of many other details in which we’d like to briefly demonstrate in order to show you how this system is being designed. All of these 3 major parts – membrane fabric, supported structure and the connection system need to be carefully designed and engineered to meet with the criteria and engineering code. 1. CLAMPING SYSTEM
It is a kind of connection system to join Fabric to Fabric or Fabric to Structure. This detail can be design by using clamp plate or aluminum extrusions.
2. BALE RING & CABLE
This is detail of high point of the conical shape. This high point detail can be designed to be closed or opened for ventilation purpose or visible purpose.
3.TILE BACK & TILE DOWN CABLE
These sort of connection cable is designed to stabilize the structure as the tensioned member.
4. RIDGE CABLE & VALLEY CABLE
These kind of connection cable are designed and engineered to make the shape of Ridge and Valley in which to achieve the Forms as well as to stabilize the membrane structure.
5. SUPPORT STRUCTURE
This is the structure to support the shape of Membrane fabric. The Support Structure for Tensioned Fabric can be Steel, Wood, or Cencrete Structure. The supported structure are in 4 types:
- Rigid Frame
- Suspension system
- Cable Net System
- Air Support System
6. BOUNDARY CABLE
This cable is designed to create curve a the edge of fabric around the boundary, where the arches are designed and engineered to transfer the tensioned force from fabric to structure.
7. CORNER PLATE
This is connection between fabric boundary cable to structure.
8. FLYING MAST
A rigid member, which is located between high point and lifting cable, is to lift the high point.
9. BASE PLATE
This is a plate which connects structure to foundation or structure to existing building wall/floor.
10. LINK CABLE
This cable is designed for the purpose of connection between corner and supported Structure which can be adjustable.
11. SEAM LINE
Seam line is a connection where fabric joint to fabric. We generally join fabric by welding them together, this can be overlapping point or butted joint system. Some type of fabric can be joined by welding the two fabric together, some may require aid of special bonding. The seam line needs to engineered as the width of the seam related to the load and tensile strength.
12. STAY CABLE
This is a group of cable including tie back-tie down cable, lifting cable. Stay cables are designed to stabilize the membrane structure as the tensioned member.
Tensioned Fabric is made of the Polymer Textile in which the base material are woven textile. Most commonly used fabric for membrane structure are:
- Polyester coated PVC
- Glass fiber coated PTFE or Silicon
